Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by my little blog. Its purpose isn't so much to show off my work, it is more of a way for me to catalog the things I've created. I hope you enjoy peeking at my projects while you are here!

Boxed Card Set

I just love spring, don't you? I love the warmth, the smell of fresh cut grass and new flowers, but mostly, I love SPRING BREAK! It has given me some much desired time with my precious little boy, as well as some much needed crafting time. This project has been in my gypsy since Christmas Break. It is a much belated birthday gift for a team member at work. Her birthday was January 11th. Yes...I know! I told you the crafting time was much needed!

I received a gift at the beginning of the year from my sister-in-law, Ruthie. I loved it SO much, that it was my inspiration for this project. You can see Ruthie's blog here, and the gift she made me here. (Ok...a little disclaimer here...I know I mention Ruthie a lot. She doesn't pay me to advertise or anything, LOL! She is the one who got me into this whole crafting thing, and I admire her work a lot. Most of you already know her so you can understand why! Plus, when I get an idea based of something someone else made, I want to give them credit, too!)

I made a boxed set of 8 cards and included envelopes. I made the cards blank because teachers have so many reasons to write a card, I wanted to leave her plenty of options. For the box and the base of all the cards, I used kraft cardstock. I just love the organic look of the kraft color! I also had to try out my newly purchased Fiskars border punch. I think it's called Treading Water. I also did a little doodling with my white gel pen. I'm pretty new to the whole doodling thing so some of the cards turned out better than others. I think my favorite is the plaid though.

There are two of this plaid one in the set and also two of this blue and green one below it. Sorry about the glare on that one!

All the colored and pattern papers are from my stash, except for the green I used for the band on the box. That is DCWV. The daisy is from the Walk in My Garden cart and I cut it at 3 inches. I finished the inside of each card with some cream colored cardstock because the kraft would be a little dark to write on.

I'm excited to FINALLY give her this gift. I hope she likes it! I hope you enjoyed it too!

Thanks for stopping in!

Baby Card

Hello there! This is my spring break and I'm so excited! The students needed a break and so did I. I love spring break because it means I get to spend all day with my son AND when he naps...it's crafting time!

My husband and I have some long time friends who are having a sweet baby girl in just a few weeks. I wanted to make a card to go along with the precious little burp cloths and bibs we are sending them.

Ok. Before I share my project, I must take a second to rave about these burp cloths. I don't have a picture now, but I'll take a few and post them another time. These precious little burp cloths are made by Ruthie over at SeptemberNinth. Yes, that's right - she does more than paper people! She made us a set when we had our son and oh my goodness! They are the best I have ever used, store bought or handmade. They stay on your shoulder so nicely and are so comfy for baby! They are so handy! They are tried and true...my son had reflux so there was plenty of spit up to go around. If you have a baby, or you are getting a gift for someone who is...I strongly suggest that you contact Ruthie and ask her to make you some. She will match your colors and has reasonable pricing.

Alright, back to my project. Here is a shot of the card.

The backing for the card is made from Recollections cardstock in kraft. I made it 9.25 x 4. The cute patterned paper is Baby Girl from Heidi Grace. The dark brown cardstock is also from Recollections and the darker pink on this card is DCWV. The light pink is just from my stash.

The baby carriage is cut from the Simply Charmed cart at 3 inches. The face is from the Peachy Keen Princess Face Assortment set. Isn't it cute?! I added a little bling and did some doodling with my white gel pen.

The words are also from the Simply Charmed cart using the word function, but they actually go with the pacifier cut on the cart and not the carriage. I'm not a huge fan of the face in the o and the e, and would have taken them out, except this is a borrowed cart, so I couldn't do it with my gypsy.

I finished the inside with some layered pink and white cardstock. I think it turned out so cute! I hope they like it!

I hope to have a few more things up before the week is through. Thanks for stopping in!

The Queen's Royal Birthday Ball

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! We are so excited to have you hop along with us on this royal journey! If you got here from the talented Kathy's blog, then you are in the right place. If not, head on over to The Queen's blog to start at the beginning.

My project for you today is fairly simple. I made a royal menu, a matching napkin ring, and a favor bag that doubles as a nameplate. I chose the fleur-de-lis pattern because I just love it, and it fits nicely along with the royal theme. A little disclaimer before you see the pictures - my house has horrible lighting! Even with my fancy camera, I struggled to get a good shot. I also don't own fancy table cloths or napkins so...you can chuckle at my set up...I don't mind. ;)

The Menu-
The white menu is cut at 5.5 x 8.5 and I layered out the black and lavender by quarter inches. The whole menu ends up being 6 x 9. The fleur-de-lis is cut from the Gypsy Wanderings cart using the tag and tag shadow features. I used my gypsy and cut the tag at 1.57 x 1.5. The white, lavender, and black cardstock are all from my paper stash.

The Napkin Ring-
For the napkin ring, I used the same fleur-de-lis tag cut and cut it at the same size as the one on the menu. I made a black strip and glued the ends together to make the ring. The silver ribbon is from my stash and I tied it around the ring. I used a little bit of hot glue to attach the ring to the fleur-de-lis tag.

The Favor Bag/Nameplate-
This little bag is the inch bag from the Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More cart. I cut it using my gypsy at 5.54 x 3.5. The paper for the bag itself is DCWV. I cut out the fleur-de-lis with my gypsy at 1.12 x 1.39. It is also from the Gypsy Wanderings cart. I used MTC to cut out Alex's name. I used hers because I needed a short one! My bag came out a little smaller than I expected. If you make one, you may want to adjust the size if you have longer names.

Here are a few more shots.

I hope you enjoyed my little project! I had fun making it.
